A heap of coal

Here's a quick piece of scatter terrain, a heap of coal. Should fit on quite a few industrial and later tables. It looks darker in real life, the photo is a bit over exposed.

Chinese Sd Kfz 222

This is a Chinese Sd Kfz 222 for my Nationalist army, and the last mini I finished in 2019. There are also two 4Ground ashes which I've based, and given a bit of paint.

Looking through the blog I see I've painted about 130 miniatures last year, which I'm pretty pleased about, what with having a full time job and everything. I doubt I'll get as much done this year, but we'll get to that in time. I hope you all have a happy new year!

Chinese reinforcements

This is a bit of a mixed bag with reinforcements for my Bolt Action Chinese.

First we have a PaK 36. Two of the crewmen are Polish crew, with their hats rounded off a bit to fit better as Chinese hats. The last one is a plastic mix of Japanese and German, with the shell carved out of a knee mortar.

Next up we have a so called "Big Sword Unit". These were Nationalist fanatics wielding, as you'd guess from the name, big swords. (a picture and some text on wikipedia)
The models are made with Japanese bodies, and most of the heads are from the truck passenger frame, these heads are not as obviously "Aryan" as some of the other kits out there.

Then we have some suicide bombers. The Japanese use of suicide bombers in the second world war was actually inspired by Chinese use of them in the sino-japanese war.

Last we have some plastic reinforcements to my big metal units, an LMG team for the guys in winter uniforms, and just some random guys for the summer uniform units, so I can run them as full 14 man squads.

Mansions of Madness world tour

The latest expansion to Mansions of Madness (that I own) is called Horrific Journeys, and is set on a train, ship and airship. We haven't played the scenarios yet, but I look forward to them now even more when I've painted all the minis included.

The two leftmost minis here are actually not investigators, but monsters.

This big gribbly is actually, if possible, even more gribbly and weird than the older mutated monsters.

Birches

The birch is an iconic tree of Sweden, and I don't say that only because I come from a place with birch in the name. Thus, for my WWII Swedes I wanted some birches to set the scene.

The kit is from 4Ground, and I've pimped the painting on the tree trunks, as well as doing the basing.
The geologist in the family say the rock outcropping looks like gneiss, so we'll go with that. :)

Houses and statues

Recently I picked up some terrain for my Chinese Bolt Action army from Warbases.

These are laser cut mdf houses (which I've pimped up a bit), and the Foo Dogs are resin casts from Warbases as well. The buddha on the other hand is something I was given at a Chinese restaurant visit many years ago, and it's been sitting in my bits box waiting for when I make that Asian-style army.

 These are the Gongji and the Niu houses. I'm happy with how the roofs turned out, since they are much more 2D than you'd think, they grey highlights are painted on.

This is the "Modular 5" house, with an added plastic roof. I've also built the small windows up by the roof, the roof construction doesn't make sense otherwise. Now it's supposed to be a simple factory or small warehouse, and should fit in most 20th century settings. The windows are just painted with gloss.

The foo dogs had some air bubbles, which I had to fill with greenstuff, but they are OK, especially for terrain.

This is a Prussian cottage, and might look strange in China, but it will fit on most European tables.

All the walls of the houses were painted with a mix of fine sand and paint before painting, and then painted in a weird mix of light grey, beige, a black wash and water. I haven't mixed paint and washes like this before, but it worked well to get this dirty grey colour.

Chinese, ruins and dwarves

So, a bit of a mixed bag this time, these miniatures were all half-finished for a while, and I finally got around to finish them up.

The old Lord of the Rings ruins on the other hand was a very fast paint job. I actually spent more time covering up the silly indents on the backs of them, so those are filled with lollipop sticks and green stuff.
The Chinese are four boss types, two LMG teams converted from Japanese bodies with British WWI heads, and bandits which will be used for the free unit in Bolt Action. Some of the latter have been converted from dark age bodies with Russian heads and German weapon arms.
